Main Acts:More camels than you thought possible
Description:Set on the fringes of India's Thar Desert in Rajasthan, this is where 50,000 flatulant, spitting camels get together for a shindig. Their owners wear some incredible costumes and it truly is a sight for sore eyes.
This is one of the highlights of India. I doubt you'd find a package holiday to cover it, but once in the Northwest, it is pretty simple to find transport and basic accomodation.
Fly to Delhi and head south.
The small and beautiful town of Pushkar is set in a valley just about 14 km off Ajmer in the north Indian state of Rajasthan. Surrounded by hills on three sides and sand dunes on the other, Pushkar forms a fascinating location and a befitting backdrop for the annual religious and cattle fair which is globally famous and attracts thousands of visitors from all parts of the world
